Find Research Participants

Find Research Participants.jpg

Introduction

Finding participants can be difficult, but here are some useful resources for helping you do so. You can pay professional companies to help you recruit, which can be useful but expensive (for example, Lightspeed - see method section of this paper Robin Hadley, Chloe Newby, & John Barry (psychreg.org) ).

Men tend to volunteer for psychology surveys less than women do, so purposefully targeting men may be necessary to achieve an adequate sample size.

Psychological Research on the Net
Psychology Research on the Net is a very useful free service where you can post invitations to your research. You must provide evidence of institutional ethical approval. The website is hosted by the University of Hanover and tends to attract student participants.

The Centre For Male Psychology
The Centre for Male Psychology can help you recruit through advertising for you. The Centre for Male Psychology is especially useful in finding male participants who are otherwise generally less likely to participate in psychological studies than are women.
